Inktober

October is one of my favorite months of the year. I have an excuse to watch Beetlejuice on repeat, people are giving away free candy, and most exciting October means Inktober time.

If you have never heard of Inktober, it’s a month-long art challenge. Throughout October, artists create drawings based on a daily one-word prompt.

If you're like me and can’t draw, never fear you can enjoy the work of others by following the hashtag #inktober on social media.

One of my favorite inkers is unsurprisingly Edward Boe. Yes, that’s right besides being an amazing photographer and retoucher, he’s also a fantastic artist.

Ed’s take on day 7’s prompt of “Enchanted”.

Day 16’s prompt “Wild” gave Ed the opportunity to do an ode to local Chicago celebrity Chance the Snapper.

2019 is the second year Ed had done the full month of prompts, although he has been drawing most of his life.

Day 3’s prompt this year was “Bait”.

Since Ed’s first visual art is drawing, he often draws out photo ideas for clients before he shoots them.

Day 25’s prompt this year was “Tasty” showing that Ed can draw and photograph food well.

Ed did a combo drawing of prompt 12 “Dragon” with prompt 13 “Ash” to tell a little visual story.

A three for one special prompt 26 “Dark” + prompt 27 “Coat” + 28 “Ride” = this cool piece.

I’m already looking forward to what Inktober 2020 will bring! Below is a peek at some some of Ed’s 2018 Inks.
